We've been getting a lot of questions from people who've found a code, only to discover the following day that the Rock Your World challenge in the app is a clue pointing to the same code.
Why do codes need to be published before their challenge?
Each day the content on the Virgin Red app refreshes around 1am - this includes the new challenge in the Rock Your World tile.
When that challenge goes live, the code that it refers to also needs to be live so that we aren't telling people to go look for a code that isn't there yet.
To make sure that a code is definitely live and ready for the next day's challenge, we need to check the code is available before we head off to bed at night. (There's been a few times where a code didn't go live and I woke up to hundreds of notifications from people who couldn't find a code - eek!)
Why are some live at midnight and some much earlier in the day?
When a code is hosted on a Virgin Red owned channel (like our app or our social channels), then we just schedule it to go live around midnight with the rest of the content, but if a code is on the channel of another Virgin company we ask that they publish it while we're still awake so we know that we're good to push ahead with the following day's challenge.
That's why sometimes codes are up a little earlier than others, but don't worry if you catch a code a day early. There's no penalty for finding a code a little earlier than the challenge :)
